Who We Are

It is the mission of Cypress Elementary School to prepare students academically, socially, and emotionally for the future. We provide a safe, orderly environment in which all members of the school community show mutual respect and communicate high expectations and high goals.

At Cypress we believe every child is a future leader who is valued for his/her potential. We respect, encourage, and support every child, employee and parent. We are committed to our success as a Cypress community. Cypress Elementary School helps students attain their optimal academic and social development by using many strategies to support learning. Parent involvement is encouraged through parent volunteers, Safe Routes to School, School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Council, and Parent/Family nights. Our before and after school programs (Sunrise and CAPS) provide support and enrichment opportunities for students. After-school sports are offered for upper grades after school through our CAPS program, giving students the opportunity to compete in Football (flag), Basketball, Soccer, and Softball. Partnerships with the City of Highland, YMCA and Highland Community Library offer students unique learning opportunities and a safe and welcoming community. Our school’s accomplishments include being an AVID Elementary School, partnering with the acclaimed Exceeding Expectations Triathlon Team, and achieving the ability to exit Program Improvement Status by meeting our AYP two years in a row and raising our API over 150 points from 2009-2013.
